Business Introduction

AdvantageLearn.com (initially  Advantage Maths) was founded in 2013. The business started as an AP Maths centre at Maris Stella, servicing a handful of students in the Durban Berea area. Today, AdvantageLearn.com services 1000s of students and parents across the country, offering a wide range of complementary & supplementary premium high school products (both online & in-person).

The team is currently made up of 16 full-time dynamic, motivated and hard-working individuals who are passionate about education, innovation and having a positive impact. In April 2019, the business joined one of Africa’s biggest incubators Raizcorp under their Partner Elite programme. This partnership is the start of Advantage Learn’s next journey – to become Africa’s premium online high school.  

Role introduction

We are looking for a Marketing Manager who will be responsible for growing brand awareness. Further to this, you will help our Sales & Marketing Director to grow the marketing department.

Role Summary

Day to day tasks include

  1. Promotion of products and services through the placement of adverts on various platforms and portals.
  2. Running social media pages. (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram).
  3. Maintain and update website content.
  4. Design and place orders for marketing literature – assist with creating various brochures, leaflets and flyers to promote products and services.
  5. Create and maintain customer mailing lists.
  6. Supporting the Sales and Marketing teams and management.
  7. New product launches.
  8. Identifying and organising new marketing opportunities.
  9. Competitor and customer insights analysis.
  10. The writing and creation of blog articles and e-mail campaigns.

Responsibilities

  1. To increase brand awareness.
  2. To implement and manage the marketing strategy for the company
  3. Plan and implement marketing activity to maximise results.
  4. Maintain all digital channels including the website, e-mail campaigns, blog articles and social media.
  5. Preparation, planning and implementation of new product launches.
  6. Plan and implement marketing campaigns.
  7. Plan, organise and attend promotional events and conferences.
  8. Work hand-in-hand with the marketing team to develop and implement company strategies.
  9. Work with the sales manager to build demand.
  10. Develop and implement strategies to drive brand awareness across the market. 

Key requirements:

  1. A minimum of 2 years of work experience within a marketing team.
  2. Excellent English skills, both written and verbal.
  3. Proficient in email marketing platforms.
  4. Experience implementing paid social media campaigns.
  5. Strong analytical, organisation, communication and people skills required.
  6. Ability to grow with the role, take on new challenges and be flexible to company requirements.
  7. Team player.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  9. Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies, products and procedures.
  10. Ability to work and thrive in a multi-tasked and ever-changing environment.
  11. Professional get-it-done attitude and work ethic.

Contract

You will be employed on a permanent full-time contract, subject to a three-month probationary period. An offer of employment is dependent upon receipt of satisfactory references, personal interview and psychometric testing

Salary & benefits

You will be paid a competitive salary as well as agreed day-to-day work-related expenses; the exact salary depends upon your experience and will be discussed with you during the interview and confirmed by an offer of employment should you be successful.

Work environment

The team works out of a small, comfortable office in the Durban Glenwood area.
