First-class education

This structured annual program covers the IEB syllabus and emphasizes spaced reinforcement in weekly lessons delivered live online via our streaming platform. This enables online learners to engage and ask questions just as if they were in the classroom environment.

Lessons, delivered by our expert teaching team, are made available to Academy learners via their dedicated online course. Included in this course are all lesson worksheets and summary notes. This is helpful in the event that learners are unable to make a lesson in a particular week or wish to look back on a lesson.

Application of knowledge is key to success in learning. In addition to the weekly lesson, learners are required to write a 30-minute spot test each week. This ensures that learners are spending focussed time practising, and serves as an indicator of which areas each individual is struggling with and where they need support. Results of the spot tests are fed back to both parents and learners weekly to keep them informed and involved in the learning process.

Syllabus: The Afrikaans Academy covers the IEB syllabus, therefore, the literature will follow the IEB prescribed work. Aside from this, DBE learners will still find the first 5 lessons of term 3 beneficial, so we encourage these learners to still join. Should you wish to attend these lessons as a DBE learner, we will prorate your termly invoice accordingly.

Applications: Applications closed on the 7th of July 2020 but late applications may be considered on a case-by-case basis if there is space remaining in the class. T’s and C’s apply which may include a nominal late application processing fee.

Admission to the Afrikaans Academy is via application only and seats are limited. We want to work with learners who show commitment to improving their Afrikaans ability. In this application, you will be required to submit a recent proof of your results alongside a motivation for your application to help us with our application processing and we will contact you should we need any further details or information.
