Advanced Programme Subjects

Designed for academically advanced learners, the IEB’s advanced programme subjects are set to improve self-discipline and critical thinking skills. Because of this, the IEB Advanced Programme subjects are the ideal way for learners to give themselves a competitive edge in their chosen degree programmes.

Advanced Programme Mathematics (AP Maths)

If a learner is excelling at Mathematics in Grade 9 and wants to keep up their momentum, then AP Maths enables them to do so. Our AP Maths course begins in Grade 10 and ends in Grade 12 with the IEB AP Maths exam. However, the purpose of studying AP Maths is not for the IEB certificate. AP Maths opens doors into universities, particularly overseas, and bridges the gap between high school Mathematics and first-year university, reducing the likelihood of a learner falling behind or failing first-year university.

We recommend this for learners who:

  • Are in Grades 10 to 12
  • Want to get their best results in Mathematics
  • Learners with a strong Core Maths competency level (minimum of 70% at the end of Grade 9)
  • Learners who wish to give themselves the edge in competitive degree programs like Engineering, Medicine and Business Science.


Advanced Programme Physical Science (AP Physics)

Learners who have a love for Physical Science and who are performing well in this subject in grade 10 may wish to take AP Physics. AP Physics enables learners to advance their existing skills from grade 11 to grade 12. On top of this, AP Physics opens doors into universities both locally and internationally, enabling learners to create a stronger foundation of knowledge before stepping into their tertiary studies.

We recommend this for learners who:

  • Are in Grades 11 to 12
  • Want to get their best results in Physical Science
  • Learners with a strong Physical Science competency level (minimum of 70% at the end of Grade 10)
  • Learners who wish to give themselves the edge in competitive degree programs like Engineering, Mathematics and Science-related degree programmes.
